How to Travel on a Budget and Stress-Free

It’s that time of the year, and you are off to that well-deserved vacation that you have been waiting. No matter where you will go, the best way to have a vacation is a hassle-free one. However, this would involve a lot of planning and preparations but that does not have to be that nerve-wracking and time-consuming.

Here’s how to put the fun in your vacation and travel without putting a hole in your budget.

Plan out on your destination.
It’s a must that you should know when and where you will be heading to. This can help you compare prices and book room reservations to avoid any hassle. Planning out your destination can also give you the opportunity knowing when would be the best time to travel at your expected place. You can also ask information from people who have been to the place for travel advises. Planning months ahead of time can also help you book tickets at a cheaper price and avail of promotions.

Every centavo count.
Every centavo that you will be spending if you’re traveling on budget counts. If you will be traveling to a destination with close friends living there, you can ask a favor to stay in their place. This can help you save a lot on the hotel fees that you will be paying, just make sure that they can accommodate you, and you’re not traveling in numbers. Packing food and drinks for the trip can also help you save money, especially when you’re traveling with children who often ask for food. Bringing your own drinks in your motel/hotel, if there would be no corkage fee, would also help you set aside a big amount of cash. Traveling during off-peak seasons also has a lesser dent on your finances since everything would be slashed off on these periods.

Secure your documents and safety first.
It’s very important that when you travel, you make copies of your important travel documents. You should make a copy to be stashed in a separate bag or wallet from where your important documents are being placed so that when your wallet or bag gets lost, you still have a copy of those and can present those for verification. It is also helpful to leave a copy at home and another copy that you can leave with a close friend so that in case your entire luggage gets lost, you can call up your friends or at home to send in those copies.

Travel safety is also a must so be wary of pick-pockets and keep your valuables in a bag worn hanging from your neck or across your body. Take note off travel safety guidelines being given out by the government on your destination.

Pack light.
Packing light will help you save on the extra baggage fee, and it would be more convenient on your part. Make sure that you will be packing the things that you will only need for a trip. If you have a heavy jacket in your bag, you can wear it instead of placing it in the luggage to give you more room and to travel lighter.

Battle motion-sickness.
You might have planned everything but motion-sickness is always your biggest bummer. Before and during your trip, avoid eating foods that caused motion-sickness such as very spicy or fatty foods. Alcohol should also be avoided. Find places in the airplane or on the boat that reduces motion-sickness, such as the near the wings of the plane or at the mid-lower part of the boat. Avoid reading and if you have a severe case of motion-sickness, ask for medications from your doctor.

First aid-kit is still a first.
It’s always better to be prepared because you wouldn’t know when that allergy or migraine would strike. Always pack your medications and bring a copy of your doctor’s prescription. It’s also wise to bring medications for diarrhea, hyperacidity, pain relievers, mosquito repellent and insect bite creams.

Now that you have those figured out, it’s time to head off to that long-awaited vacation. Be prepared with alternatives and don’t be caught off-guard.
